- It is large — 462 rooms and villas across a 400-acre estate — so it is a resort rather than a retreat, and getting about it takes buggies and a funicular. The beach is small: 100 metres of sand.

The hotel and its rooms
The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama stands above the sea at Guía de Isora, on the island’s south-west coast, inside a 400-acre estate it shares with an 18-hole course by Dave Thomas. The Canary register lists it in its top category, Cinco Estrellas Gran Lujo, with 462 rooms, suites and villas. M.B, the dining room Erlantz Gorostiza runs from Martín Berasategui’s cooking, holds two MICHELIN stars in the 2026 guide, and the estate’s own beach is reached by funicular.
Rooms and suites
Rooms are divided between the Citadel, the main terracotta building above the sea, and the villas, a quieter village of low houses in the gardens with their own pool and service. The Citadel is the livelier half and the one to choose for the restaurants and the lobby; the villas are the one to choose for space and privacy. Most rooms in both look west, which is where the sunset and La Gomera are.
On the practical side, the estate is large enough that buggies run across it, and the beach is reached by the resort’s own funicular or on foot. If a particular outlook, bed configuration or step-free access matters to you, tell us when you enquire and we will confirm it with the hotel for your dates before anything is booked.

M.B holds two MICHELIN stars in the 2026 guide, where Erlantz Gorostiza cooks Martín Berasategui’s dishes from Canarian produce; Akira Back Tenerife is the Japanese kitchen; Txoko is Basque, Verona Italian, Verde Mar vegetarian and farm-to-table, and El Mirador seafood and rice. La Veranda does breakfast, The Beach Club grills beside the water, and the Lobby Bar and Deli Cafe fill the hours between.
