Our Story

Avelia didn’t start in a boardroom, it started on the road.

I was living in Portugal, taking long drives through small coastal towns and quiet vineyards. That’s where the idea first took root. What if travel could feel like this? Thoughtful. Grounded. Inspired by real moments and real places.

Before Portugal, I had spent most of my life in the Netherlands, then in Ireland - each move teaching me more about how to live, how to slow down, and how to connect. And when I eventually made Spain my home, Avelia finally had the soil it needed to grow.

At its core, Avelia is about creating meaningful journeys. We don’t do packaged tours or rushed itineraries. Instead, we craft trips with intention—rooted in local culture, natural beauty, and a deep respect for the places we visit.

Sustainability guides everything we do. We support local communities, steer away from overcrowded hotspots, and choose accommodations that are environmentally and socially responsible. Our framework is evolving to reflect the Sustainable Development Goals from the UN, helping ensure each trip has a positive impact.

More than anything, we want our travelers to come home with something lasting—not just beautiful photos, but a new perspective, a deeper connection, and perhaps a shift in how they see the world.
