01Is it for you?

Is J.K. Place Roma right for your stay?

Why choose it
Its size. With 27 rooms on a side street of the Campo Marzio, it is a house rather than a grand hotel, with a hall and the J.K. Cafe for its public rooms, and on the top floor its rooms open onto balconies over the roofs of Rome.
Who it suits
Couples, and travellers who would rather have a small house than a large hotel; families too, in the hotel's Family Rooms. For a rooftop and the view, Hotel Eden, above the Spanish Steps, is the one to compare; for a garden, Hotel de Russie.
What to consider
The entry rooms are small — the J.K. Classic Room is 18 m², and the hotel says its wardrobe, like the Superior Balcony Room's, takes two small bags or one big one — so for more than a night or two look at the Deluxe rooms and above. The hotel stands inside the historic centre's limited-traffic zone: a car needs a permit to reach the door, and the hotel's team parks it in a garage about 20 minutes away.

02The hotel

The hotel and its rooms

J.K. Place Roma is the Rome house of J.K. Place, whose other hotels are in Capri and Paris. It occupies the building that was Rome’s school of architecture, on Via di Monte d’Oro just south of Piazza Augusto Imperatore, and its interiors are by the architect Michele Bönan: rosewood canopy beds and marble bathrooms in the rooms, shelves of books on fashion, art and design, and in the hall a classical torso beside a palm on a striped rug.

Rooms and suites

The twelve categories come down to two questions: a balcony, and room to spread out. The balconies are on the top floor, the third: the J.K. Classic Room, the Superior Balcony and JKDeluxe Balcony Rooms, the Junior Suite Balcony (44 m², with a bench and table outside) and the JK Master Balcony Suite (50 m²), whose balcony looks across Piazza Augusto Imperatore to the dome of Santi Ambrogio e Carlo al Corso. The Master Rooms (46 m²) have rosewood canopy beds and look over the same square, and the JKMaster Suite (50 m²), on the second floor, a separate living room with a sofa bed and a small library. The Grand Deluxe Rooms face inward, over the neighbouring historic buildings, and the hotel calls them very quiet.

For a family the hotel sells Family Rooms: rooms joined behind one outer door into an apartment of 90 to 106 m² for up to seven, some with balconies. The JKMaster Suite also connects with a JKDeluxe Room for six, and the two Master suites take two adults and two young children.

Tell us when you enquire whether a balcony, a quiet room or connecting rooms matter to you, and we confirm it with the hotel for your dates before anything is booked. If children are travelling, we confirm the hotel’s children’s policy for your group at the same time.

On the practical side: we arrange the transfer from Fiumicino or Ciampino with the hotel’s concierge — about 45 and 35 minutes by car, by the hotel’s reckoning. Room service runs round the clock.

03Location

Where J.K. Place Roma is

J.K. Place Roma stands at 30 Via di Monte d’Oro, in the Campo Marzio rione, just south of Piazza Augusto Imperatore and the Mausoleum of Augustus, with Via del Corso and Via Condotti to the east. By a pedestrian route it is about seven minutes’ walk to Piazza di Spagna, ten to the Pantheon and twelve to Piazza Navona — approximate times — so most of the historic centre is on foot. The map shows it with what is around it: the Mausoleum of Augustus to the north, the Spanish Steps to the east, and the Pantheon and Piazza Navona to the south. Hotel de Russie, another Rome hotel we feature, is to the north by Piazza del Popolo, and Hotel Eden on the hill above the Steps. For the city itself, see our Rome page.

05Planning

Planning a stay with Avelia

J.K. Place Roma suits a stay in Rome on foot, from the Spanish Steps to the Pantheon, on its own or as the Rome nights of a journey on to the Amalfi Coast. Before any payment, we send a written proposal with a quoted trip price and what it includes — such as your room, a private transfer from Fiumicino or Ciampino, the Colosseum or the Galleria Borghese with a guide, and reservations at the J.K. Cafe — and refine it with you. Once you approve the proposal and complete the agreed booking requirements, we confirm your arrangements. We coordinate the details and support you while you travel.

How we choose hotels. For their size and character before their brand, and for how they suit the way you travel. No hotel is on our list simply because it sits on a preferred-partner programme. More in our story

Peace of mind

Financially protected. When your stay is part of a package trip, your payments are covered against our insolvency by a guarantee with AXA. A hotel booked on its own is not a package. Plan with peace of mind
