02The hotel
The renovation keeps the building’s classical lines — the high ceilings and tall windows of the Eixample — around rooms that are quiet and contemporary. Behind it lies the garden. Ildefons Cerdà, who planned the Eixample, meant the interior of each block to be green space shared by the buildings around it; few of those gardens are left, the hotel says, and it has restored its own in that spirit.

Rooms start with the Deluxe at 35 m², facing the quiet interior of the block, the garden or Carrer de Mallorca, and the Grand Deluxe and Premium Twin, about 40 m² — the twin with two 1.35 m beds. The suites run from the 55 m² Junior Suite to the 150 m² Signature Suite on the main floor, whose living room has a table for four. Two Terrace Suites on the top floor have private terraces, one looking over the Passeig de Gràcia, the other towards the Sagrada Família, and a butler can be requested in these, the Signature Suite and the Eixample Suite.
For Gaudí from the window, ask for a Pedrera View room or the 90 m² Library Suite, which look onto the chimneys of Casa Milà. For a family, it is the Family Suite or the Eixample Family Suite. The hotel assigns rooms on arrival and says no two in a category are quite alike, so if a particular outlook, bed configuration or step-free access matters to you, tell us when you enquire and we will confirm it with the hotel for your dates before anything is booked.
On the practical side, the concierge is there around the clock, the hotel runs its own chauffeured airport transfers, pets stay at no extra charge, and the hotel says its public areas and certain rooms are adapted for guests with reduced mobility, with a lift to every floor.
Restaurant Alma cooks Mediterranean market food that follows the seasons, in its indoor dining room or at tables in the garden. In the evening the garden has its own cocktail bar. Breakfast runs until 11am, a buffet with hot dishes made to order, and for an early flight the kitchen packs a takeaway breakfast box if you order it half an hour ahead.

Hotel Alma is on Carrer de Mallorca in the Eixample, in the part the Ajuntament calls la Dreta de l’Eixample, a few doors from the Passeig de Gràcia.
