The hotel and its rooms
César Ritz bought the Hôtel de Gramont, a private mansion on Place Vendôme, to turn it into a luxury hotel, and brought in Auguste Escoffier as its first head chef; the hotel’s cooking school carries his name. The house has since been renovated from top to bottom.

Tea is served in the Salon Proust, by the fireplace and the library, and Bar Vendôme serves through the day, with the pastry chef François Perret’s creations. The hotel has two bars, the Bar Hemingway and the newer Ritz Bar. We reserve the tables.
