02The hotel
The hotel and its rooms
Hotel Alfonso XIII was built to be Seville’s grand hotel, and it still is. José Espiau y Muñoz designed it for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition; it went up between 1916 and 1928 and was inaugurated on 28 April 1929. The city of Seville owns it, and The Luxury Collection runs it under concession.
The building is neo-Mudéjar — brick, plaster, carved wood and ceramics, arranged around a colonnaded courtyard with a fountain at its centre, which is where Restaurante San Fernando lays its tables. Beyond the arcaded entrance hall there is a garden of palms and orange trees, and the outdoor pool sits in it, on the corner where the hotel meets the Alcázar gardens.

Rooms and suites
Rooms run from Deluxe Classic, which looks onto the courtyard, up through Grand Deluxe — including the Giralda View and Partial Giralda View categories, and a top-floor Grand Deluxe with Terrace of 37–43 m². The suites all have a separate living room except the Junior Suite, and the largest, the Alfonso XIII Suite, is 147 m² with its own dining room and a garden outlook. Several take up to four guests.
Mobility-accessible rooms with roll-in showers are offered in the Grand Deluxe, Deluxe and Junior Suite categories, and connecting rooms exist for some types and not others. Eating and drinking
Restaurante San Fernando serves Spanish cooking in the colonnaded inner courtyard, around the fountain. Ena Sevilla does tapas and wines on an outdoor terrace, and Bar Americano is the hotel’s Art Deco wine and cocktail bar. There is also a pool restaurant for hotel guests, which the hotel listed as temporarily closed when we checked in September 2026.
