- It is not on the beach — the coast is a short drive. It is also the far side of the island from Palma, about an hour, so it suits a stay rather than a touring base. Parts of the Country Club have been temporarily closed.
02The hotel
The hotel and its rooms
Cap Vermell Grand Hotel opened in 2016 above the Canyamel valley, on the east coast of Mallorca. It is laid out as a hilltop village rather than a single building: lanes and squares between stone-faced houses, with a tower over the main square.
Every room and suite has its own terrace, over the valley, the gardens or the resort. The Serenitas Spa and two pools sit among them, and the Cap Vermell Country Club, down in the valley, adds tennis, padel and a gym.

Rooms and suites
A hundred and forty-two rooms and suites, every one with a private terrace. The Junior Suites are 53 m², in Garden, Resort View and Valley View versions; the Grand Suites are 103 m² with one or two bedrooms, either over the valley from the top floor or with a private garden; and the Presidential Suite is 150 m² with a jacuzzi on its terrace, looking to the Mediterranean and the valley.
On the practical side: the outdoor pool is seasonal, and the Kids Club takes children from four to eleven with a wider programme in July and August.

VORO holds two MICHELIN Stars under chef Álvaro Salazar, serving one tasting menu in its own building on the square; it is adults-only. Villa Sofia cooks Mediterranean food on the poolside terrace with live music, Bravo is a tapas and wine bar looking over the valley at sunset, and ROKA appears in summer for robatayaki on the Asia Terrace.

Canyamel is a quiet valley behind the east coast, about an hour from Palma and its airport. The hotel stands on a rise above it, so the sea is a view from the terraces and a short drive to stand in.
